Look who Annisa bumped into at the Knitting and Stitching show! Fabulous winner Asmaa and lovely Fauve from this year’s Sewing Bee series. So good to meet them and we're hoping they pop in and visit us at Stitch! when they are next in North London.

Who visited the show at Ally Pally last week, what did you think? We started quite early although the traffic was heavy and parking was already almost gone by 10am- eek! But we felt this year had a really good mixture of crafts and exhibitors and the ‘corridors’ between the stalls seemed a little wider than before. We came away with some interesting supplier details and saw some outstanding fabrics, there was a very pleasant atmosphere all round. In the entrance there were some amazing quilts and we were very encouraged to see the new graduates of various guilds had their work displayed and on sale. Even more delightful were the number of teenagers (no discernible boys, sadly) most of whom were there with their GCSE Textiles teachers, a great school trip we think. The future of stitchery seems to be in good hands. Come on boys, join us, we’d love to see you at Stitch for our workshops too!

READY FOR HALLOWEEN?

Really looking forward to our collaboration next Tuesday at CIC second-hand shop Philanthropy in Green Lanes. Bring along your costumes or materials to refashion and upcycle using our sewing machines or find inspiration from the fabulous Philanthropy costumes in store and buy something that is preloved. 7-9pm! Fun, communal costume making here we come!

Tuesday 24th October 3 - 4:30pm

Finger knit a garland and make pom-poms or crochet embelishments. Come and get creative with our expert teacher Kay :) Whatever your child's level we will cater the session so they make a fabulous garland to take home. No experience required. This mindful craft session is the perfect activity to keep young minds busy this half-term. This fun activity develops dexterity and concentration whilst also encouraging mindfulness and creativity. Age 8+

* Paper Crafting Lanterns

Wednesday 25th October 10:30 - 12:00

Come and get creative making decorative lanterns to take home and decorate your room or use for Halloween. This fun activity develops dexterity and concentration whilst also encouraging mindfulness and creativity. This is a drop and go class, parents and carers do not need to stay.

This course is strictly for children aged 6+. Younger children can attend if an adult stays to help them with the activity. (due to insurance reasons children under this age cannot attend). Age 6+

* Learn to use a Sewing Machine and Sew Bunting

Thursday 26th October 3 - 5pm

Come and learn to use a sewing machine with our specialist children's teacher Anna. This class is suitable for complete beginners. This will be a small class with a maximum of 5 children and they will be taken through the basics of setting up a machine and how to use the different stitches and how to make decorative bunting. Age 10+
