Tomorrow we are running a Stitch! fundraiser day, 10-3pm in the shop organised by the fabulous Susan with so many beautiful handmade crafts by our extremely talented crafting community to raise funds to keep Stitch going during a difficult financial period for us.

If you have some spare time please pop in and join us. We are so enormously grateful to everyone who has donated and made such fabulous items from knitwear, shawls, earrings, crocheted scrunchies and craft kits.

Our brilliant knitting and crochet teacher Kay @craftycavykay will be here from 1-3 running a help desk, for a donation she will help advise you on your knitting and crochet problems and questions.  

Also the lovely Nadira will be here offering henna painting in the afternoon for a small fee so why not come and experience this beautiful body art.

So all in all, a fun day. We are so grateful for everyone’s efforts and the support we are receiving.

DUXFORD

Pat, Carol and Susan made a visit to the Duxford Spring Quilt Festival on Wednesday. They particularly admired the Ways of Seeing wallhangings by Alicia Merrett, colourful and evocative, so modern.

And in April Susan and Pat will be running another patchwork workshop- learning how to sew the Dresden Plate Pattern-  a classic pattern that makes quite a statement that has been used for over a century. Dresden plate Patchwork is an ideal way to use up the scraps that you have lying around. You can use a monochromatic scheme or a rainbow of colours. There are several methods of stitching this beautiful design. In this course you will learn how to cut accurately and put together your Dresden plate depending on the size.

Learn to Make a Denim Skirt, Saturday 6th April 10:30-2:30

Who doesn’t love a denim skirt? We are running this workshop again and you can choose to make a pencil skirt or an A-Line skirt! Come join us for a workshop to learn to make a skirt that is perfect for all body types and wearable for any occasion! (You could of course choose not to work with denim if you prefer another material).

With our expert seamstress Pat Stevens you will make this very on trend skirt that will carry you through all the seasons. Dress it up in the cold season with tights boots and a jumper or in the warmer months with sandals and short sleeves. This skirt is definitely a staple for any wardrobe.

You will learn how to work with denim, patch pockets, zippers, waist band, slit, top stitching.
