Ponte Roma Jersey (also known as Ponte di Roma) is a double knit jersey dress fabric. NEW WORKSHOPS COMING UP AT STITCH!

We are very excited to be scheduling a Learn to Sew and Make Reusable Christmas Crackers workshop. Watch this space for the date! There will be mince pies and wine aplenty for a sociable and festive evening of sewing.

There are lots of spaces available on "Make A Tote Bag for Beginner Sewers!" £45 tomorrow, 1-3pm. You will learn to make a 14 inch square tote bag, a great class for beginner sewers looking to gain confidence.

We have changed the date for Learn To Make A Winter A-line or Pencil Skirt! to Saturday, 6th November, 12.30-4.30pm. There are now three spaces left so be quick and we have some other fabulous Christmas sewing classes too like our Make A Fun and Reusable Yappy Christmas AdventCalendar, Wednesday, 13th October or Saturday 23rd October, 11-1pm and our Sewing Skills Workshop- Make A Christmas Wreath, Thursday 28th October 1-4pm

With expert seamstress Pat Stevens, you will learn to make a 14 inch square tote bag. A great class for beginner sewers or graduates from our Learn to Use a Sewing Machine to make a useful item. As long as you can use a sewing machine this is the class for you to advance your dressmaking skills.
We will provide fabric for the main body of the bag and lining. If you would like to buy fabric from our shop you can.

Learn new sewing skills and make yourself a fabulous winter skirt in a relaxed environment with expert seamstress Pat Stevens in this 4 hour workshop. This is an intermediate sewing class on how to accurately cut out and adjust a pattern to make yourself a take-away home skirt. You will learn to create a fitted skirt using pleats that will shape it beautifully around your curves. Depending on whether you choose to make an A-line or pencil skirt you will also learn to create a fitted waistband, how to insert a zip fastening and finish off by neatly hemming your skirt.

Come and enjoy a few hours spent with people who share your passion for sewing. This is not a group with a teacher in attendance but as all crafters know it is very beneficial and enjoyable to be sharing your sewing experience and we can all pick up tips and knowledge sewing together. We have 4 Janome sewing machines for you to use and sewing tools or you can bring your own equipment. This is a sewing group for adults.

This beginner/intermediate workshop is a great introduction to making a simple object that could help you to understand the basic principles of cutting out and using a sewing machine. The skills involved will be fabric cutting, using a rotary cutter, including the use of high-quality Janome sewing machines. This traditional calendar will be created by sewing strips of fabric onto a preprinted calendar and so forming 24 pockets or ‘days’ of Christmas.

With Sharon Wallin, in session 1 you will learn the basics of needles and yarn, casting on the easy way, knit and purl stitches, getting comfortable with your tension. Dropped stitches - what to do. Session 2. Review of session 1 (Q&A) Making patterns using knit & purl stitches and tips to keep your knitting flat and your tension even and finally of course casting off.

Part of a series of special crochet stitches aimed at improving your skills. This class is the ideal follow-on to the Learn to Crochet Beginners workshops or for anyone who would like to learn a new technique – it is suitable for anyone with basic crochet experience. Once you can work in flat rows, it’s time to discover how to shape your crochet, making these contemporary baskets working ‘in the round’ and learning how to increase in double crochet.

Some crochet stitches make the perfect foundation for large throws and cushions. In this class I will teach you how to crochet the texture-rich waffle stitch, working round both the front and back posts. Different edging techniques will also be demonstrated. We will be working up a small sample which will enable you to use this stitch in whichever project you like when you get home.

A great follow-on workshop for anyone who has learnt how to work the basic granny square - this class will introduce you to the 'filled-in' or plain granny and we will also add a pretty floral design in colours of your choice worked from the base ring. This class also includes tuition on how to form a magic loop.

Over the 2 weeks you will learn how to get to grips with the hook and yarn, work the foundation chain, double crochet, treble crochet, turning chain, simple pattern reading and basic finishing techniques. At the end of the course you’ll take away some small, fun items that you will have made.

Ideal as a follow-on for those who have been on our Learn to Crochet workshops or anyone with previous experience who can crochet in double and treble, these flowers and leaves are perfect for all sorts of decorations - they make a great base for a Christmas wreath or use pastel shades and add them to some of your summer projects.

Dreaming of a white Christmas? Then why not crochet this sweet little snowflake decoration which is perfect to make into a handmade card or to hang on your tree. You can also make lots of them and join together to hang as festive bunting. You will learn how to make a magic loop (which is useful for all sorts of other projects) and work the classic feathery shape using treble crochet and treble crochet clusters.
