New classes for keen crafters

Winter wreaths, snowflakes & woolly things!

Where do you get your ‘craftspiration’ from? We love going to craft fairs and exhibitions to see what other people are creating so we can get lots of ideas for more classes and locally sourced stock for Stitch!

Our latest jaunt was to the Festiwool in Hitchin where a number of artisan spinners and designers were showcasing their hand dyed yarns and bespoke wool. We thought we may start stocking some more unusual and naturally dyed yarns here soon if there is the demand so watch this space…

Talking of wool, we’ve had a new delivery of some super chunky Stylecraft Swift Knit in various shades, beautifully modelled here as a woolly hat but ideal for all sorts of winter items. Come and browse the range in the shop now, limited stocks available so get your skates on!

New classes scheduled that we hope will inspire you are the Macrame a Snowflake (Wed 20th Nov, 7-9pm), Crochet Flowers and Leaves – Intermediate Level (Fri 6th Dec, 11.30-1.30pm, pictured), Make a Chunky ‘Roving’ Wreath (Thurs 5th Dec, 7-9pm) and Make a Stocking, part of our Get to Know Your Sewing Machine series (Sat 14th Dec, 2-4pm). We are also delighted to bring you the new Make a Scented Heart Decoration class (pictured) on Sat 14th Dec, 2-4pm where you can chose from lavender or a Christmas scent to fill these delightful little decorations. Our stock here has certainly made us smell beautiful!

Anyone who’s been in the shop this week will have noticed we’ve had a mini makeover courtesy of the Palmers Green Action Team, and we’re loving our new greenery outside. Thanks team!

We’re open as usual tomorrow but many of us will also be at the Vintage Flea down the road, running drop-in classes including finger knitting, rag rugging wreaths, felt accessories and much more. On both Saturday and Sunday Tricia Sharpe will be on hand at the fair from 10.30-12pm to help advise with any mend and repair enquiries for only £5. With free entry and live music on Saturday from 2pm, more info is available from organiser Tatty Bits at  https://www.tattybits.co.uk/vintage-fairs   Hope to see you there supporting this great local vintage venture.
