Another fun packed week here at Stitch! We are all settling into a new normal, wearing masks in shops, out and about. We’ve been very busy selling home-made masks for adults and children alike and we are really impressed and pleased with how many of you are also making them yourselves. We have lots of elastic in stock for those of you that need it and a good array of cotton fabrics. Don’t forget if you need any help we have several video tutorials to help guide you on our website and we have some lovely new summery jersey fabrics for those of you who like a stretchy mask.
Our Zoom sessions have continued with some fabulous crafting online by kids making rainbow badges, paper spinners, toilet roll animals and some beautiful Knitting Nancys this morning.
A big thank you goes out to Sharon Wallin, our knitting and crochet guru, for hosting 16 weeks of virtual knit and natter on Zoom. We had our last session on Thursday for a while. Thank you Sharon for providing a comforting crafting ear and chat right from the start of lockdown every Thursday morning. Our audience has grown and grown and we really look forward to welcoming everyone back to a real life (socially distanced) knit and natter in the shop on Wednesdays 11-12 from September 2nd and of course our evening Stitching Circle too which started back up a few weeks ago. We are planning to launch a project involving knitting and crocheting a square for a dementia charity too. So watch this space :)
We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing and mindful couple of hours in the shop yesterday evening at our beginners Intro to Modern Calligraphy class. Thank you so much to local calligrapher Sam Brown. We cant wait for our next intermediate class on Thursday 24th September where Sam will introduce new tools that will elevate your practice, including the oblique pen holder, coloured ink and a new nib. By the end of the class you will have made a piece of calligraphy art that shows off your growing talent! Sam also has some wonderful calligraphy sets for sale in the shop.
SHOP
We have had some fabulous new jersey fabrics come into the shop this week. Fresh new designs for summer, we couldn't resist these mustard hues and the bees are so unusual :) We have some playful, vibrant fabrics which are perfect for crafting, dressmaking and homeware. We are also very excited about some new Makower ranges coming into the store in September.
