Stitch is Crowdfunding! 22/01/21

hello • 8 February 2021

Sunshine Friday!

We hope all our customers are holding up this week and it's certainly lovely to be seeing sunshine out of our windows today!

Stitch! has launched a Crowdfunder page! The Mayor of London has pledged in a Pay It Forward, Crowdfunder campaign to match funds raised for a limited time only if we hit our target, which means the financial help of supporters will extend even further for our small community business. As you know the ongoing government restrictions means our physical shop must remain closed and we are unable to run our usual classes for the time being. Like so many small businesses, survival is our primary aim at present.

If you are interested in supporting us please have a read of our campaign in the link below. We remain incredibly grateful to each and every customer that chooses to shop and take classes with Stitch! and for all the encouragement our community have given us since we opened in May 2019. Thank you so much for your ongoing support!

CLASSES ON ZOOM!

Introduction to Modern Calligraphy Zoom Workshop

Thursday 11th February 7-8.30pm, £15

We are so pleased that Sam is running another calligraphy class for us on Zoom. Take your first socially distant steps in modern calligraphy, just in time for writing your Valentine’s Day cards, with this 90 minute Zoom workshop led by local calligrapher, Sam Brown. Calligraphy is a wonderfully relaxing hobby, a perfect remedy to the stressful times in which we find ourselves, and you don’t necessarily need any specialist equipment to get started.

Sam will begin by introducing you to the nib and explaining how to prepare it for use, before demonstrating the basic strokes and letter shapes of modern calligraphy. The class will be structured around worksheets which will be emailed before the class for you to follow at home - any pencil or pen will do! Alternatively you can purchase a
modern calligraphy starter kit (including pen holder, nib, ink and paper) directly from Sam at www.samslittlestudio.co.uk.

Sam is offering free collection in Palmers Green, and free delivery along the Enfield cycle lane. If you have any questions email us on
hello@samslittlestudio.co.uk and you can find Sam on Instagram @samslittlestudio!

Learn the Art of Visible Mending
With Tricia Sharpe (ONE MORE PLACE AVAILABLE!)
Three one hour sessions via Zoom:- Saturday 30th January, Saturday 6th February and Saturday 13th February, 11-12pm. Cost: £30

Are your favourite garments becoming unwearable with holes and frays? Are you keen to learn how to repair them rather than buy new ones? We are all learning more about the resources required to make our clothes and the problems of ‘fast fashion’.

Give your garments a longer life and learn how to repair them using the Japanese art of visible mending: Shashiko. The workshops will be via Zoom. You need a set-up that will leave both hands free with some space for cutting, pinning and sewing. We will send you a kit of small fabric materials, needles and threads to work with and an information sheet. All you need to provide is a pair of scissors! Please book with plenty of time to allow us to post out your kit!

ONE ON ONE TUITION ON ZOOM!
If you need help with a sewing, patchwork, mending, knitting or crochet project whilst we are closed we are very happy to offer individual one-on-one video tuition and guidance (via Zoom) with our teachers in any of the sewing, knitting and crochet disciplines at £20 an hour tuition.
