At Stitch this week we are feeling a growing glow of positivity, gratitude and love. Gratitude for everyone who has supported our Crowdfunder page - we appreciate your support so much. Positivity with the immense joy and relief we are feeling when we hear of the growing number of friends of Stitch who now have had jabs or are booked in and also hearing stories of how well organised the delivery of injections has been locally.
We are starting to see a light at the end of a long tunnel and a way we will get through this pandemic and how we at Stitch can begin to think and plan our return. So massive, heartfelt appreciation to the medical staff and scores of volunteers who have pulled together to run the vaccination centres in our borough with such efficiency and care.
And love is certainly in the air! Our fabulous crafter and seamstress, Susan Mehmet of Ashkim Bears has been sharing the love and busying herself with another wonderful sewing project for you all to try and share as gifts- sewing Keepsake Hearts. Here is her lovely message and link to a free pattern to make.
"This winter lockdown has proven very challenging for us all and I have definitely found it harder this time around. I think we are all truly missing hugs and social contact.
Since March last year I have rekindled my love of sewing, but this has meant I have acquired a large box of fabric scraps. What to do with them?
With Valentine’s day approaching, I came up with the idea of sending hearts to friends and family. Your love will reach them through a simple homemade gift. A creative way of letting them know you are thinking of them.
If you are keen on knitting or crochet, use your scraps of wool to make hearts in the same way.
Let’s get making and send them all over the country and all over the world. And we would love to see photographs of your designs. We all need to spread a little love at the moment! Happy Heart making."
Love Susan x

CLASSES ON ZOOM!
Introduction to Modern Calligraphy Zoom Workshop
Thursday 11th February 7-8.30pm, £15
There are places still available on our class in the week with local caligrapher Sam. Take your first socially distant steps in modern calligraphy, just in time for writing your Valentine’s Day cards, with this 90 minute Zoom workshop led by local calligrapher, Sam Brown. Calligraphy is a wonderfully relaxing hobby, a perfect remedy to the stressful times in which we find ourselves, and you don’t necessarily need any specialist equipment to get started.
Sam will begin by introducing you to the nib and explaining how to prepare it for use, before demonstrating the basic strokes and letter shapes of modern calligraphy. The class will be structured around worksheets which will be emailed before the class for you to follow at home - any pencil or pen will do! Alternatively you can purchase a modern calligraphy starter kit (including pen holder, nib, ink and paper) directly from Sam at www.samslittlestudio.co.uk.
Sam is offering free collection in Palmers Green, and free delivery along the Enfield cycle lane. If you have any questions email us on hello@samslittlestudio.co.uk and you can find Sam on Instagram @samslittlestudio!
