Tricia who is teaching our class Saturday after next would love to convert more of you to this fabulous way of sewing.

“Sashiko is based on a running stitch – so nothing complicated.  It’s used for visible mending, reinforcing a worn area of fabric or for embellishing. As long as you’ve done some sewing you’ll be fine. It’s easy to learn and then it’s up to you to see how and where you can put it into practice. I love it – it’s such a versatile technique and as you get better at it you can make beautiful decorative things, as well as mending your clothes and household stuff. I’ve made lots of presents this way. And, everyone who’s been in the class has said how calming it is to just sit and stitch. You can pick it up any time you need to create some quiet space for yourself.”

Sashiko workshop

WORKSHOPS AT STITCH!

Plenty of spaces available on our Freestyle embroidery class next Saturday.

Join us at Stitch with local artist and creator Sharon Wallin for a morning of mindful creativeness! Enjoy creating an embroidered Mandala style piece of textile art. Using recycled materials, buttons, beads and a range of threads, you will develop your own unique design. 

This class uses simple stitches and is suitable for beginners as well as those who wish to embark on a new creative process. During this class you will develop your design ideas and will learn how to use stitching to create fun, interesting and unusual effects.

And on our waffle crochet stitch class- the texture rich waffle stitch is the perfect foundation for large throws and cushions. Different edging techniques will also be demonstrated.
