Patchwork Perfection and Choosing Fabrics To Stock at Stitch!
Patchwork perfection and choosing fabrics to stock at Stitch! 3.02.22
She did it! Liz has sewed the jacket of dreams - a beautiful reversible patchwork jacket. It looks stunning. In Liz's own words
"I'd never tackled anything like this before but the pattern was simple and each step was easier than I thought. It's a great way to use loose odds and ends of fabric and you end up with two jackets for the effort of one."
If anyone is interested the pattern is from Aura Patterns on Etsy and is called Trendy Jacket.
We are completely in love with this jacket, so much so Susan is now making one. We can totally get why, this season, patchwork/ quilted jackets are set to become the outerwear of choice. It's a multigenerational trend, seen from the school gates to celebrities on social media and in high street shops like Anthropologie. We highly approve of this fashion!
Our Beginners Quilting workshop is the first step to making garments like this as well as traditional quilted items so if you are interested the workshop is running with teachers Carol and Susan on Sunday 26th February
https://www.stitch.org.uk/shop/Beginners-Quilting-Workshop-Sunday-February-26th-10-30am-4-30pm-p522958843
In this 6 hour workshop you will learn skills that include choosing which fabrics are suitable, rotary cutting, creating a patchwork, layering the quilt, quilting the layers together and finishing off with adding a binding. The design will be based on a patchwork made of squares. It is recommended that you are experienced with using sewing machine. Otherwise, no previous quilting experience is required and all materials and sewing machines are provided. So why not join us?
If you are looking for some inspiration here are some of the fabulous quilting projects that Carol and Susan have enjoyed working on in the past.
