Happy Weekend from Stitch!

Happy Weekend from Stitch! 21.05.23

Happy Friday Everybody!
Creative juices are flowing here at Stitch this week as brilliant Liz has been busy designing a fabulously original Coronation themed window. She has been experimenting with the very satisfying art of curve stitching, which is similar to string art. Curve stitching was invented by Mary Everest Boole in the mid 1800s to encourage children with their maths and became very popular as a decorative craft in the 1960s through kits and books.

Full shop window reveal tomorrow so please pop by and take a look this week and will release photos in next weeks newsletter...(and just a quick heads up that the shop will be closed on Saturday 6th May for staff to celebrate the Coronation.)

New Painting Workshop at Stitch with artist Freny Green

We are delighted to announce that the fabulous local artist Freny Green will be hosting her first painting workshop at Stitch. Freny runs her own studio in Wood Green and online business. She paints and sells flower artwork, as well as homeware created by Colombian artisans using techniques that have been passed down through generations. Underpinning Freny’s practise and business is the strong belief that her curated pieces bring a beautiful touch of nature for the home.

In this workshop, Freny will show you how to paint beautiful, seasonal flowers from observation. Using acrylic paint, you will learn how Freny approaches a painting, mixes colour from a limited palette and applies these techniques to depicting the flowers displayed in life in paint.

All materials will be provided, as well as tea and homemade cake so just bring yourselves! This will be a fun event and warm-up exercises to get your creative juices flowing will be set at the beginning. Do bring along your favourite flower or plant if you have one if not we will have plenty of inspiration at hand for you to paint.
