Just penning a quick newsletter from the heady heights of beautiful Alexandra Palace, as our Community Jubilee collage is here for the next four days and a little reminder the shop is shut tomorrow Friday, as we are here showcasing this fabulous community piece, shop back open on Saturday.
There is a lovely creative buzz here at the Knitting and Stitching show which runs until Sunday. Some beautiful pieces in the textile galleries, some fabulous workshops and talks, demos in The Creative Living Theatre and of course exhibitors selling fabrics, crafts and textile supplies. There are tickets still available and it's definitely worth a visit- you can't help but come and feel inspired. Also if you are here tomorrow please pop along and hear Jill's talk about the collage at 12.30-1pm.

This is a one-off class for beginners perfect for you! Hosted by expert seamstress Pat Stevens. You will learn your way around the workings, parts and components of a sewing machine. Learn how to set up and thread a machine and how to wind a bobbin. Learn how to set the correct tension. Learn how to sew straight seams. Changing the needle. Come join us for a Jute weaving workshop with local artist Shirin Kambarova! This is an ancient, coiled technique that uses "jute" which is a sustainable natural, earthy material. Jute woven planters make a great strong container that are not only for plants. It can be made in many different sizes and shapes depending on how adventurous you are. It can be used for all kinds of storage from your threads to laundry and can make a truly unique gift for someone special. In this class with Stitch! you will be provided all the materials to make a small round container. If you are making a pot for a specific small plant please feel free to bring it in to make to size.

This is a perfect activity to do with friends over a glass of wine that would be provided or join for an evening and make new friends. During the workshop you will learn three types of macrame knots:- a larks head; a square head; a double hitch knot.
