Learn skills that include rotary cutting, choosing suitable fabrics, creating a patchwork, layering the quilt, quilting the layers together and finishing off with adding a binding. Are you a complete sewing beginner looking to make sense of how to use a sewing machine? This is a one-off class for beginners perfect for you! Hosted by expert seamstress Pat Stevens. You will earn your way around the workings, parts and components of a sewing machine, learn how to set up and thread a machine and how to wind a bobbin and learn how to set the correct tension. Learn how to sew straight seams, change the needle, use a zipper foot and a 1/4 inch seam foot. You will practice some stitching in order to gain the skills you need to tackle your future projects.

With Kay Dudman. This is an intermediate knitting class. (You should already be able to stitch in knit and purl and be able to cast on and off). Techniques you will learn are shaping - creating armholes and necklines. Increases (left/right slant); Decreases (left/right slant) Picking up for neckband/armband; following a pattern: terminology, abbreviations and diagrams, twisted stitches, cable stitches: cable front, cable back and incorporating texture in cable stitches.

Some crochet stitches make the perfect foundation for large throws and cushions. In this class I will teach you how to crochet the texture-rich waffle stitch, working round both the front and back posts. Different edging techniques will also be demonstrated.
